It is easy and there is NO COST for coaches/faculty to integrate the NCL games into the classroom. The NCL has made it easy by providing:

  • Instructor syllabi

  • Hands-on preparation for professional certification exams with exercises.

  • Batch registration/payment services for easy registration of multiple participants (See registration flowchart in NCL Planning Guide below).

  • Opportunity for participants to compete in Capture the Flag (CTF) games

  • Easy, Medium, and Hard Game challenges for participants at all levels

  • Coaches Calls (link coming soon)

  • YouTube Channel (subscribe HERE)

  • Facebook LIVE (like NCL page HERE)

Examples of how Coaches are integrating the NCL games into their classrooms:

  • Make the hands-on exercises graded homework assignments, extra credit, or supplemental homework

  • Make participating in the games graded assignments, extra credit, or supplemental homework

Top Ten Reasons to integrate the NCL games into the Classroom:

  1. Course syllabi and labs are already developed and available to be modified for YOUR institution.

  2. May allow course lab fees to cover NCL registration fees

  3. Promotes cybersecurity and awareness at the institution

  4. Can be counted in criteria toward the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designation

  5. Promotes teamwork in the classroom for face-to-face and online courses

  6. Allows participants to obtain credit toward a certificate and/or degree while participating in the NCL competition

  7. Provides a platform as a capstone course and or a substitute for participants that can’t participate in an internship

  8. Classes that include the NCL competition over several semesters builds student confidence, motivation, recognition, and hands-on experience

  9. Promotes cybersecurity program curriculum with industry and resources for job candidates via Scouting Reports

  10. Promotes mentoring by faculty in a coaching role that supports students in a similar way athletes are mentored by coaches, resulting in developing soft and hard skills
